The Spa Director is directly responsible for the effective application of spa staffing models, proven ability to create and implement spa service menus, effective retail management, successful marketing strategies, and demonstrated ability to project costs, revenue and to adhere to the budget that supports monthly / annual financials.
What you will do:
Own the full strategic and operational leadership of the Spa, Fitness, and Wellness departments, ensuring alignment with brand, guest, and business goals.
Develop long-term vision and short-term plans for wellness offerings, talent development, revenue growth, and guest satisfaction.
Oversee concept development, programming, and treatment design—merging ancestral traditions, modern modalities, and sustainable practices.
Lead all budget, forecasting, payroll, and performance review processes for Spa & Wellness.
Build and mentor a leadership team that is empowered, motivated, and aligned with our service philosophy.
Champion cross-departmental collaboration (Rooms, F&B, Guest Experience, Marketing, Sales, etc.) to embed wellness into the broader resort narrative.
Analyze key business indicators and adjust strategy proactively to optimize results.
Actively engage with guests, VIPs, and media—serving as the face and voice of Spa & Wellness at Tamarindo.
Ensure that all facilities reflect uncompromising standards of cleanliness, safety, design, and functionality.
Serve as primary contact for local partnerships, wellness vendors, visiting practitioners, and luxury product lines.
Elevate the retail component as a meaningful extension of the wellness journey.
Maintain full compliance with Four Seasons, LQA, Forbes, and local regulatory standards.
Represent the Spa & Wellness department in Operational Strategy Team and operational planning meetings.
Lead continuous innovation—proposing new experiences, collaborations, and revenue streams that align with the brand and destination
What you bring:
Minimum 5 years management experience in a luxury Spa.
Demonstrate adaptability to live in a remote location.
Excellent English and Spanish (Preferred) language.
Previous experience preferred as a hands-on therapist such as massage therapist, esthetician, acupuncturist, etc.
The ability to maintain operating criteria/spa concepts and be responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all Spa related services in relation to assistance with policies, philosophy, and objectives for the Spa.
The ability to be responsible for the administration of goods, requisitions, inventories, storage, and cost-effective usage of all department-related materials and assets, according to standards to ensure for smooth operation.
The ability to coordinate personal training with outside contractors and employees and to guarantee a high level of service and adequate availability.
The ability to effectively integrate the Spa with the Resort operations wherever possible and in accordance with the direction of Spa trends.
The ability to interact with guests, providing full knowledge and assistance for maximum guest usage in a friendly but unobtrusive manner with all guests.
The ability to issue recommendations regarding the annual operating budget, capital investment budget, operating planning, and further periodic evaluations of financial performance, including reports on sales and operations with supporting statistical data.
The ability to anticipate, in advance, all materials and supplies and assure their availability.
As a Department Leader you will motivate and develop a team, leading by example at all times, and instill a culture of continuous learning and improvement among your staff.
You actively participate in Employee Relations activities and programs
You are actively involved in identifying and assessing the needs of your team and investing in their career development through effective coaching, training, and by instilling company our values.

This is a full time position
This role primarily works Monday through Friday, although may be asked to work other shifts, based on business volume.
