Position Summary:
The Sourcing Category Manager will lead strategic sourcing initiatives that drive total cost reduction, improve service levels, and unlock value across BJ’s. This role requires expertise in sourcing best practices, project management, vendor negotiations, bid analysis and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will own sourcing projects end-to-end—from strategy through contract execution—and will be a key partner to senior leadership across the organization.
While deep knowledge of sourcing is essential, subject matter expertise in logistics, warehousing, transportation, or broader supply chain operations is a strong plus. Experience in sourcing IT or digital categories (e.g., software, SaaS, hardware, cloud infrastructure, consulting) is also valuable and may complement the role’s primary focus.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Own Sourcing Strategies: Create and execute category strategies that align with BJ’s SS&P structure & operational goals.Leverage benchmarks, internal data, and market intelligence to define total cost of ownership (TCO) savings opportunities and roadmap initiatives.Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to Transportation, as well as Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance leaders.Communicate and gain alignment with senior executives and cross-functional teams to support strategy adoption and decision-making.End-to-End Sourcing Execution: Lead the full lifecycle of sourcing projects: gather requirements, develop RFPs, evaluate suppliers using scorecards, and facilitate multiple negotiation rounds to achieve the best outcome for BJ’s.Vendor Evaluation and Selection: Conduct structured vendor assessments through commercial, technical, and performance lenses. Narrow down viable options, manage cross-functional evaluation meetings, and guide final award decisions.Contract Ownership and Negotiation: Lead business term negotiations and partner with Legal to finalize agreements. Ensure all commercial elements, performance expectations, and KPIs are accurately reflected and enforceable in the contract.Savings and Value Capture: Set baseline benchmarks, track savings, and quantify value delivered through sourcing projects. Develop transition plans to hand off awarded business to appropriate internal owners.Continuous Improvement & Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends and supplier capabilities. Identify emerging risks and innovation opportunities to evolve BJ’s sourcing approach over time.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree5–8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, including 2–3 years focused on Transportation & Logistics categoriesDemonstrated ability to run end-to-end sourcing events, including vendor selection, negotiations, and contractingProficient with sourcing tools (e.g., Jaggaer, Keelvar), Excel (advanced), Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of financial modeling and TCO frameworksFamiliarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred)Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex cost structures and identify negotiation leversExcellent communication and presentation skills; proven track record of influencing VP and C-level stakeholdersExperience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with competing prioritiesAbility to manage multiple sourcing initiatives simultaneously and independentlyNice to Have:

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $112,000.00.
