Solution Architect, ArcGIS Enterprise Architecture
CTG is seeking to fill a Solution Architect opening for our client in Albany, NY. Location: Remote Duration: 6 months Duties: Lead the upgrade and migration of ArcGIS Enterprise environments (e.g., from version 10.8.x to 11.x) with a focus on High Availability (HA) and Redundant Architecture Design, plan, and implement enterprise GIS solutions ensuring scalability, fault tolerance, and minimal downtime Collaborate with infrastructure teams to optimize system performance, security, and integration within enterprise IT environments Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in Esri’s full stack (ArcGIS Server, Portal, Data Stores, etc.) Define and document architecture, system design, deployment models, and operational procedures Troubleshoot complex system issues and ensure continuity of GIS services Guide and mentor technical staff on GIS best practices, deployment strategies, and architecture frameworks Engage with utility industry stakeholders to align GIS solutions with business objectives and compliance requirements Skills: Deep expertise in Esri ArcGIS Enterprise architecture and deployment Strong understanding of High Availability (HA) and disaster recovery design for GIS systems Proficient in Python scripting for automation and system administration tasks Experience with enterprise IT environments including networking, firewalls, load balancers, virtual machines, and cloud-hosted solutions Strong understanding of system integration and GIS database management (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server) Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills Experience: 20+ years of experience in GIS, with a minimum of 8 years in ArcGIS Enterprise architecture and HA system design Proven track record of successfully leading ArcGIS Enterprise upgrades and migrations from 10.x to 11.x Prior experience supporting GIS in the utility industry strongly preferred Demonstrated experience as a GIS Architect, Specialist, or Esri Stack Implementer in complex enterprise environments Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
