Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our growing team of diverse professionals. The candidate will support Agile development of MS Windows and cloud-based solutions as a Product Owner and Systems Engineer, performing engineering analysis to define internal and external interfaces, user and data workflows, system architecture and design for new capabilities, as part of the Mission Planning and Decision Support Operating Unit (OU).
This position is based 100% on-site in either Hollywood, MD, or Melbourne, FL.
Daily responsibilities include:
Develop CONOPs, perform functional analysis, requirements allocation, decomposition, and interface definition to translate customer requirements into software specificationsDevelop User Stories and Acceptance Criteria for the mission planning productsWork closely with software development team to implement new capabilities and ensure requirements are metSupport iterative development of UI/UX concepts and designs with customer feedbackPerform trade studies to support design approaches and software/hardware selectionEnsure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraintsMay include travel to other locationsBasic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:
BS or higher degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an ABET accredited university2+ years of experience OR 0 years experience with a master’s degree in a related discipline1+ years experience in one or more of the following Systems Engineering activities: operational concept development, architecture definition, interface analysis, requirements development and management, verification and validation, authoring engineering reports1+ years experience as a Systems Engineer or Product Owner on an Agile software development effortUser Story Development, backlog refinement, release planningActive DoD Secret security clearance investigated within the last 5 yearsAbility to obtain and maintain SAP clearanceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work on-site in Hollywood (MD) or Melbourne (FL)Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD SAP ClearanceExperience using military aircraft mission planning systemsSystems Engineering experience migrating desktop applications to cloud nativeExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Iac) developmentExperience with mathematical algorithm development, MATLAB, modeling/simulationExperience with UI/UX developmentExperience with MBSE ToolsExperience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, .Net, Java, C, and C#Experience with Software Security Engineering, IA/Cybersecurity and industry platform hardening practices, such as DISA STIG ImplementationCurrent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (such as, Security+)Work well in a fast-paced team environmentSalary Range: $77,200.00 - $134,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
