Job purpose
The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos and fan drive s for the automotive industry. Position Summary:
To strengthen our Software and Controls Development Team, we are looking for a Software System s Architect Engineer in the development of engine software including power electronics , motors, valves, sensors, actuators, and electronic control units. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring system requirements are utilized to enable engineer ed software solutions are developed and validated to meet customer needs .
The Software Systems Architect Engineer position within this group is primarily responsible for controls structure design and simulation of system level software development . The position will also be responsible for guiding and specifying the Software requirements including overall, system operation , concentration in Power Electronics inverter control, and functional safety. Close communication , coordination, and collaboration with a global team will be necessary so that the s oftware evolves into system-level controls and hardware . This position will support software development including modeling, design, simulation, testing, and release of software .
Key responsibilities
+ Software architecture development for electronic assemblies (Embedded Systems).
+ Analyze SW requirements for architecturally relevant elements.
+ Define SW architecture elements.
+ Describe dynamic behavior and interfaces of SW elements.
+ Evaluate alternative architecture designs.
+ Lead the Hardware and Software in the loop (HIL and SIL) development including toolchain .
+ Oversee SW integration and testing against architecture.
+ Ensure h ardware meets software requirements in the development and industrialization phases.
+ Support release of system and SW requirements for SW aspects.
+ Achieve goals for software architecture development of electronic assemblies with multiple functions and interfaces over time within assigned work packages or project tasks.
+ Review and coordinate technical requirements (e.g., customer specifications) for assigned development tasks.
+ Prepare and technically approve specifications and technical documents for customers and suppliers.
+ Document software architecture and software design within the V-process / Spice.
+ SW architecture Design (SWAD): Traceability Reports, Assessment of alternatives, Approval of software versions.
+ Support Spice development process and F uSa developments according to EDF.
+ Partition SW according to FuSa principles (freedom from interference).
+ Support System Development Lead , System Architect , and Hardware Architect.
+ Ensure adherence to and improve to processes in software development.
+ Ensure independent and regular information exchange with internal and external development partners, especially with design, purchasing / supplier support, production, and quality assurance.
+ Close cooperation with departments of other B orgWarner locations within global development projects.
+ Incorporate technical changes in requirements management and distribute information independently.
+ Independent contact with internal & external development partners, customers, service providers, and suppliers.
+ Responsible for defining system level power electronics software technical requirements and specifications for products that meet internal and customer needs.
+ Analyze and define System Requirements of power electronics for motor controls .
+ Identifying test cases to ensure software adheres to motor control requirements .
+ Interface with Systems E ngineering to ensure software requirements are documented appropriately and analyze d prior to software design and implementation.
+ Ensure compliance with occupational safety and environmental protection regulations.
+ Take lead role in design reviews to ensure robust integration of Power Electronic sub-systems and component software requirements into overall system architecture.
+ Define control interface requirements for inverter operation including states, commands, and feedback status.
+ Work with System Lead Engineers to d evelop qualification plans that will verify that all products, sub-systems , and components comply with requirements.
+ Conducting system-level and unit-level verification and validation testing
What we’re looking for
Required :
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent.
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in SW architecture development in the automotive or industrial industry.
+ Very good knowledge and experience with analytical and model - based software development (M ATLAB Simulink)
+ K nowledge in software development (C/C++).
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in HIL and SIL toolchain and usage for complex automotive systems
+ Knowledge of software development processes and tools such as Polarian , Jira, Bitbucket
+ Experience with SW Requirements, Architecture, Design, or Integration & Test for mechanical and electrical hardware-related system development .
+ Ability to define software related system testing & evaluation
+ Knowledge of hardware software interface documentation .
+ Ability to interface with hardware engineers
+ Minimum 5 years of deep knowledge in power electronic inverters and electric motor control needed within similar complex projects
+ Knowledge of Power Electronics Inverter control including usage of motors, drives, and sensors
+ Knowledge in MATLAB, Simulink, and CANoe necessary .
+ Knowledge of Risk assessments or FMEA’s ISO Functional safety
+ Knowledge of development-related quality assurance measures (reviews, Spice, etc.).
+ Knowledge in basic software, communication / bus systems / Autosar helpful.
+ Ability to coordinate with engineering development with individuals in multiple locations / time zones.
+ Ability to work on project teams as a technical representative and possesses good communication and presentation skills .
+ Proficient with Microsoft office products — Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
+ Good language skills in English , Chinese , and German.
Preferred :
+ MSEE or MS M E or equivalent with 7 + years software design and development experience.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate testing .
+ U nderstanding of the challenges of applying electronic components to harsh applications, principal failure modes, means to mitigate these, and the methods for validation.
+ Broad background in engineering technical disciplines that include, controls, magnetics and EMI/EMC shielding.
+ Six Sigma and Functional Safety experience
+ Experience with controls simulation, motors, and powertrain management hardware.
+ Strong experimental, analytical, and computer skills including ability to operate Matlab /Simulink models to produce data for analysis.
+ Familiarity with electrical test equipment including oscilloscopes, power analyzers , and multimeters as well as a basic understanding of electrical safety.
