Software Production Support Lead(Cloud)

Your Role

Lead and empower a team of cross-functional software engineers responsible for maintaining and supporting the Aptiv Connect Validation product in production environments. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, technical curiosity, and a proactive mindset. Key responsibilities include:

Oversee and coordinate the resolution of production issues, including bug fixes, performance bottlenecks, and system reliability concerns.

Build and lead a self-directed team that thrives in ambiguity and takes full ownership of production support, including triaging, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex software issues.

Ensure timely and effective triaging, root cause analysis, and resolution of software defects reported from internal and external stakeholders.

Collaborate with development, QA, DevOps, and product teams to ensure smooth handoffs and continuous improvement of production support processes.

Collaborate closely with the QA team to validate fixes, ensure test coverage is updated, and prevent regressions through improved automation and test strategies.

Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems to proactively identify and address issues.

Dive deep into a large, legacy codebase to understand system behavior, identify defects, and implement robust, well-tested fixes.

Drive the creation and maintenance of documentation related to production support workflows, known issues, and resolution strategies.

Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to long-term solutions that prevent recurrence.

Stay current with industry best practices in software reliability, observability, and support engineering, and apply them to enhance team effectiveness.

Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning within the support team.

Your Background:

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

10+ years of experience in software engineering, production support, or related roles, with a strong track record of working independently and solving complex issues in legacy systems.

2+ years of leadership experience in a software team (as team lead, scrum master, project lead, etc.).

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex production issues.

Demonstrated ability to navigate and understand large, unfamiliar codebases and deliver high-quality fixes with minimal guidance.

Strong collaboration skills and experience working closely with QA teams to validate fixes and improve test coverage.

Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog).

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation tools.

Excellent communication skills for coordinating across teams and documenting support processes.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Additional Background Preferences:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Experience with modern software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.

Passion for working with cutting-edge technologies such as AI code/test generation tools (e.g. GitHub CoPilot)

Familiarity with AWS, GitHub, GitHub Actions, JIRA, and Confluence.

Experience working with Linux operating system.

Experience working with applications deployed in the public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
