You will be responsible for shaping engineering strategy, nurturing talent, and building high-performing teams that deliver secure, scalable, and user-centric mobile experiences. This role is ideal for a technology enthusiast and people-first leader who thrives on building scalable systems, mentoring engineers, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, and Infrastructure to deliver secure, high-performing mobile solutions that power critical user experiences. Please note that this position an office-centric environment located in Raleigh, NC. The work schedule requires employees to be on-site four days per week, one day remote. **Key Responsibilities** + Lead and grow high-performing engineering teams focused on native mobile applications (iOS and Android) and their cloud-based backend services. + Foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and hands-on problem solving—whether it's building POCs, exploring new frameworks, or optimizing distributed systems. + Oversee end-to-end software delivery: technical architecture, team execution, roadmap delivery, and operational support. + Drive engineering best practices for code quality, scalability, performance, and mobile-backend integration. + Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Product, Design, QA, and DevOps to align technical execution with business goals. + Champion Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and continuous improvement in velocity, predictability, and engineering excellence. + Own the technical roadmap and participate in strategic planning, capacity forecasting, and staffing decisions. + Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and data privacy standards across mobile and backend systems. + Foster a culture of innovation, exploration, prototyping, and a “builder” mindset within the team. **Required Qualifications:** The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. + Bachelor’s degree and equivalent combination of advanced education and experience, which could include any combination of 8 years of experience in IT software engineering, 5 years’ relevant business experience (i.e. making technical-related decisions on the business side), 5 years’ experience in project management, and at least 2 years of management experience + Broad and in-depth knowledge of technology trends, competitive environment, regulatory requirements and trends, and IT strategies employed to continually meet the demands of clients and regulators + Ability to translate enterprise level strategic planning information into software and data management needs, create business plans, and turn them into effective business solutions + Executive level communications skills, including, strong negotiation/facilitation/presentation skills and experience negotiating with vendors for relevant products and services + Ability to lead projects of significant complexity and risk exposure, particularly with enterprise-wide implications + Ability to exercise judgment in solving technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of complex business objectives and priorities + Ability to lead and manage the performance of multiple teams against a set of financial and operational objectives **Preferred Qualifications** + 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles managing engineering teams. + Proven track record in delivering and supporting scalable, high-quality mobile applications and cloud-native backend services. + Deep understanding of mobile architecture, native SDKs, and deployment workflows. + Proficiency in cloud services (preferably AWS) especially for APIs, serverless computing, and database solutions. + Deep understanding of RESTful API design, Microservices, service-oriented architecture, and mobile-to-backend integrations. + Strong background in DevOps, CI/CD automation, and observability tools. + Familiarity with security and compliance standards (OWASP, SOC 2, HIPAA, etc.). + Experience managing hybrid teams including offshore engineers. + Excellent communication, decision-making, and team leadership skills. + Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. **General Description of Available Benefits for Eligible Employees of Truist Financial Corporation:** All regular teammates (not temporary or contingent workers) working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits, though eligibility for specific benefits may be determined by the division of Truist offering the position.
