As a **Software Engineer** in the Microsoft Store team, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of the Windows app distribution components and the foundational layers of the Microsoft Store application. You’ll work on delivering reliable, scalable, and performant infrastructure that enables seamless app experiences for millions of users. **Responsibilities**
+ Collaborate with stakeholders, such as product, design, and data, to define technical requirements and translate them into scalable design specifications.
+ Independently design, implement, and maintain features and services with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
+ Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for critical services, leading incident response and driving root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
+ Contribute to architectural discussions and help evolve the system design to meet future scalability and reliability goals.
+ Drive improvements in engineering practices, including CI/CD, testing, observability, and operational excellence.
+ Stay current with industry trends and apply new technologies and practices to improve the product and development process.
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
+ Experience developing and maintaining web services or APIs as part of a full-stack application, such as ASP.NET REST API, Service Fabric, Azure Function, etc.
+ Experience with basic query languages (e.g., SQL, KQL).
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
+ Proficiency in full-stack development, including both frontend (e.g., Web Components, HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript) and backend (e.g., Node.js, .NET, or Azure-based services).
+ Familiarity with modern web architecture and performance optimization techniques.
+ Experience with SEO best practices for web applications.
+ Hands-on experience or knowledge with caching and data stores such as Redis.
+ Exposure to monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., Azure Monitor, Application Insights).
+ Understanding of infrastructure fundamentals, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment strategies.
+ Experience with data processing and analysis workflows.
+ Working knowledge of Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
+ Understanding of accessibility standards such as WAI-ARIA and inclusive design principles.
+ Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
+ Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
