Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking the position of Software Engineer - Mainframe in New York, NY.

Essential Responsibilities: The Software Engineer will design, develop, test, operate, and maintain financial processing systems for Integrated Card Systems (ICS) Core Credit Card Account and Financial Processing. Conduct code review to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures in line with Agile software development methodology. Code COBOL DB2 batch programs for nightly validations and passing data to downstream systems. Updating COBOL Customer Information Control System (CICS) modules to handle new fields and business validations. Conduct functional, regression testing, and unit testing. Code in Job Control Language (JCL) and set up batch jobs with dependencies. Write structured language queries for creating ad hoc reports and set up one-time run JCLs. Review and ensure defect free deliverables to business lines. Address escalations from business lines such as research requests, production data update requests and ad hoc report requests. Review critical tasks and ensure appropriate prioritization and sizing for delivery in Jira. Position may allow working from home within a commuting distance of worksite location. Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Industrial Biotechnology, plus 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience as a technical architect, software developer, or related. 

Required Skills/Experience:
Must possess 5 years of experience with each of the following: (a) developing mainframe applications for financial institutions using COBOL, JCL; (b) Integrating CICS and IBM MQ applications; (c) Querying from RDBMSs DB2 and SQL Server; (d) developing VSAM data structures; (e) performing unit, system and integration testing using IBM Data Studio; (f) performance tuning of mainframe applications; and (g) investigate abnormally ended applications using IBM Fault Analyzer.

Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $145,242.00 - $ 173,100.00
