Software Engineer III ( IBM Assembler, REXX)

Job Description Summary:

The Software Engineer-III designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools. Determines software’s compatibility with hardware and/or influences software's design in relation to hardware.

The Software Engineer-III designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools. Determines software’s compatibility with hardware and/or influences software's design in relation to hardware. 

Required Qualifications

10+ years of professional experience in z/OS systems programming, security, or product engineering.

Strong proficiency in IBM Assembler and REXX.

Deep understanding of z/OS internals (APF, SVC, PC, cross-memory services, control blocks).

Demonstrated expertise in system dump reading and analysis.

Exposure to RACF, ACF2, and Top Secret—with working knowledge of security profiles, rules, and access controls.

Solid debugging and problem-solving skills in complex mainframe environments.

Ability to work independently at a mid-senior level, while collaborating closely with global, cross-functional teams.
 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with project management tools like Jira

Prior contribution to security-focused mainframe tools or utilities.

Excellent communication skills for working with distributed engineering teams and enterprise customers.
