Software Engineer III - Backend Java/Kotlin

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector Employee Compute team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm's state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role. **Job responsibilities** + Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting. + Writes secure and high-quality code using Java/Kotlin. + Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications. + Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation. + Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity. + Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems. + Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect. + Implement and manage cloud messaging APIs and push notification services. + Utilize code versioning tools, especially Git, for efficient source code management. **Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills** + Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience + Proficient with Java and Cloud services such as AWS + Experience with design, develop, and deploy micro services for scalable and maintainable applications/services + Set up, configure, and manage Jenkins pipelines for automated build and deployment processes + Develop enterprise-level applications using the Spring framework, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC; Write and maintain backend code in Java, kotlin, including object-oriented programming and design patterns + Create and maintain shell scripts for automation and system administration tasks; Write complex SQL queries, optimize database performance, and manage relational databases. + Use Maven for project management, dependency management, and build automation; Work with JSON for data interchange between client and server applications + Deploy, manage, and scale applications using various AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS, KMS + Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle + Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security + Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining backend services written in Java/Kotlin code in a large corporate environment **Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills** + Familiarity with Kotlin + Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts + Practice Test-Driven Development (TDD) to ensure high- quality, maintainable code by writing tests before implementing functionality. + Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.) JPMorganChase, one of the oldest financial institutions, offers innovative financial solutions to millions of consumers, small businesses and many of the world's most prominent corporate, institutional and government clients under the J.P.
