**WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH**
Firewall Software Engineer II role is responsible for supporting the enterprise firewall infrastructure. This position focuses on break/fix operations, incident management, and performance troubleshooting. The role works under the guidance of senior engineers and reports directly to the Lead Firewall Software Engineer. Primary customers and peer groups will be Core Infrastructure Engineering, Corporate Information Security, and Nike Operations Center.
**WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
Ideal candidate shall have enterprise level Security acumen, experience working on Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls, and attention to detail.
You'll have -
+ Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of directly relevant work experience.
+ Demonstrated relevant industry experience and up-to-date technical expertise.
+ Ability to apply technical knowledge in the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of systems.
+ Initiative in completing tasks independently within area(s) of expertise.
+ Provided value-added input and guidance in solution development and team support.
+ Experience with Network Access Control systems such as Cisco ISE
+ Hands-on experience with traffic decryption and privacy regulations
+ Proficiency with network automation tools and scripting languages
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
**WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON**
You will be responsible being an active participate with-in a global Firewall Squad, managing firewall performance, conducting software upgrades, reviewing capacity for IT networks, play a role is building automations, and solutions to further Nike’s journey towards Zero-Trust networks.
+ Participate in break/fix operations and on-call support for firewall-related incidents and performance issues.
+ Assist in the design and implementation of solutions for well-defined problems, with guidance from senior team members.
+ Develop, configure, and test programs and systems within the scope of two to three sprints.
+ Contribute to technical design discussions by offering insights and ideas. Collaborate with senior engineers to define new application requirements and resolve project issues.
+ Build expertise in technical capabilities, agile methodologies, and continuous delivery practices.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production systems with min mal support.
+ Produce complete system documentation for new or proposed systems and share knowledge with the team.
+ Cloud Security Integration: Assist in securing hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure) by configuring and monitoring ingress/egress controls, implementing intra-cloud segmentation, and supporting cloud-to-on-prem traffic flow policies.
+ Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Support the development and maintenance of automation pipelines using Python, Terraform, and GitHub to streamline firewall rule management, logging, and compliance reporting.
+ Incident Response & Risk Mitigation: Participate in root cause analysis and remediation for firewall-related incidents, including software upgrades, hardware failures, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) enforcement.
