We are part of the Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) team in the Experiences + Devices division. Our mission is simple but critical: keep customers secure and productive by delivering a reliable, high-quality servicing experience across current and future versions of Windows.
The Customer Focused Engineering (CFE) team within WSD is seeking Software Engineers to join us in this mission. In this role, you'll work on core components of the Windows operating system—specifically focusing on Active Directory and identity-related infrastructure.
You will contribute to:
+ Security hardening and servicing of AD and related platform components
+ Resolving complex customer-reported issues and ensuring fixes meet the highest quality standards
+ Improving reliability and performance across diverse enterprise environments
+ Building telemetry and insights to drive better servicing decisions
+ Developing features that enable new enterprise scenarios and ensure AD continues to meet the evolving needs of our customers

**Responsibilities**
+ Investigate and resolve security vulnerabilities—both in AD and other core Windows areas—ensuring comprehensive variant coverage.
+ Reproduce, debug, and fix customer-reported issues in Active Directory and other components of the Windows operating system.
+ Deliver high-quality, reliable fixes with minimal compatibility and regression risk.
+ Contribute to feature work across identity and broader Windows platform scenarios, helping light up new enterprise and hybrid cloud use cases.
+ Manage priorities effectively and deliver updates and features on time in alignment with servicing and release schedules.
+ Partner with escalation engineers and multiple teams across Microsoft to investigate and resolve complex issues.
+ Identify and implement improvements in tools, infrastructure, and engineering processes to strengthen long-term servicing quality and velocity.
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages C++ Experience with Windows system-level programming, ideally in areas related to print subsystems, networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SMB, RPC), or driver models.
+ Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, especially in multi-threaded, system-level applications.
+ Experience with Agile/scrum methodologies.
**Other Requirements:**
+ Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Proven design and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on quality and engineering excellence.
+ Proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
+ Familiarity with Windows debugging tools (e.g., WinDbg, trace logs, protocol analyzers like Wireshark).
+ The ability to work well in a diverse, global, team-focused environment.
+ Ability to understand unfamiliar code bases, and debug server-side, multi-threaded, and highly scalable applications.
+ Experience in working with Windows system level programming.
+ Demonstrated results working with a global team.
