Software Engineer II

Location: Remote Duration: 12 months Overview: The Software Engineer II provides designs, specifies information systems solutions, and highly technical direction in the development of new or existing applications to solve basic to complex problems or enhancements. The role serves as a principal application designer for major modifications, leveraging analytical and technical skills as well as available technologies. This position ensures solutions are technologically sound, supports day-to-day activities, and may direct the work of less experienced personnel. Primary Responsibilities: Perform and oversee systems analysis, design, and development for complex projects. Contribute as an individual contributor on significant development efforts. Direct and monitor less experienced resources, coordinating tasks on projects of varying scope. Prepare and manage technical components of project plans. Collaborate with Development, Operations, and Technology teams throughout the project lifecycle. Develop and execute test plans, review results, and perform debugging as necessary. Evaluate interrelationships among programs, applications, and platforms to recommend solutions. Prepare technical and functional specifications, documentation, and diagrams. Provide consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new technologies. Recommend process improvements and evaluate vendor solutions. Ensure compliance with company standards, policies, and risk controls. Complete additional related duties and special projects as assigned. Scope of Responsibilities: The Software Engineer II works under the supervision of a Technology Team Lead but is capable of independent contribution in all phases of system development. The position may manage activities of others on a project basis and monitors performance to ensure timely delivery. The role requires interaction with senior management, technical teams, clients, and vendors, occasionally serving as a technical representative on committees and special initiatives. Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: May oversee the work of less experienced team members on small to large scope projects. Provides technical mentorship and guidance. Education and Experience Required: Associate degree and 5+ years of systems analysis/application development experience, OR in lieu of degree, a combined 7+ years higher education and/or work experience including at least 5 years in systems analysis/application development. Strong experience in Database Engineering, gRPC, and Event Sourcing. Proficiency with application development software and hardware platforms. Skilled in project management, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to diverse audiences. Proven ability to coordinate between Applications and business units. Demonstrated success driving project milestones and delivery. Education and Experience Preferred: Knowledge of banking application frameworks and systems. Subject matter expertise in supported applications/systems. Advanced understanding of integrated applications. Ability to multitask across complex projects in both autonomous and team environments. Proactive, action-oriented approach with strong lateral thinking skills. Advanced knowledge to contribute on projects beyond normal business-as-usual operations. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required. Salary offers are based on skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and—where applicable—licensure or certifications.
