The team is responsible for developing features of this system, improving the performance, controlling resource usage and helping internal users with building applications using the system. **Partner with the best** Software Engineer is a role that requires technical skills, creativity and a knack for solving problematic issues. You will be involved in the design, implementation,maintenance of a critical configuration distribution system written in Python or Rust. That system is essential for Akamai's content delivery network and is used 24/7 across the world As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for: + Creating new features from scratch, enhancing existing features and optimizing existing functionality. + Working in all stages of software engineering, from concept and design through testing, documenting and deployment. + Contributing to projects that make our network more stable, faster, and more secure + Cooperating with QA team to come up with regression tests that cover new changes to our software + Cooperating with SRE to ensure observability and operational excellence. **Do what you love** To be successful in this role you will: + Demonstrate proficiency in Python (required); familiarity with Rust is appreciated. + Demonstrate experience working with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) + Utilize Git and collaborative tools like Jira, Confluence, Jenkins for development practices. + Utilize AI-assisted coding tools, including GitHub Copilot, as part of the standard toolkit. + Show experience in working with Linux environment + Demonstrate experience with containerization or orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) applications. **Build your career at Akamai** Our ability to shape digital life today relies on developing exceptional people like you.
