Software Engineer II
## About the role: Collaborates with stakeholders to design, develop, optimize, and productionize machine learning (ML) or ML-based solutions and systems that are used within a team to solve moderately complex problems. This role also leverages and improves ML infrastructure for model development, training, deployment needs and scaling ML systems. ## About the Team: _This team is within Uber's Machine Learning Platform (Michelangelo)_ _We are building a truly extensible machine learning ecosystem. This system provides a comprehensive tool chains to empower ML engineers to build high quality machine learning solutions in all perspectives in Uber's business._ _Our team is composed of collaborative people with deep knowledge in various domains, such as, but not limited to, distributed systems, analytical systems, large-scale backend services, large-scale computing infra, feature stores, data vis and cloud-based AI solutions._ _\[Meet Michelangelo: Uber’s Machine Learning Platform (http://eng.uber.com/michelangelo/)\]_ _Working on building the control plane and ML app framework, that supports all ML use cases in Uber._ _On this team, we:_ - _Build, test and manage the micro services._ - _Build frameworks for training and serving applications_ - _Build applications with nonSQL storages._ - _Build pipelines offline and streaming related to generative AI needs in Uber, such as but not limited to:_ - _Data Ingestion_ - _Model Fine-tune and model accuracy_ - _Prediction Evaluation_ - _Monitoring_ ## Minimum qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, WHICH INCLUDES 2-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: - Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) - Training using data structures and algorithms - Machine learning (e.g., tree-based techniques, supervised learning) - Machine Learning Software such as Tensorflow/Pytorch, Caffe, Scikit-Learn, or Spark MLLib - Note the 2-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these).  The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated. ## Technical skills: Required: - Feature management At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
