**Role Summary**
As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for writing automation tools to deploy and operate Splunk’s Cloud platform across multiple cloud service providers supporting our commercial and non-commercial cloud footprint. The team is responsible for managing the account lifecycle across cloud providers enabling teams to easily build and deploy services on the cloud. You will play a crucial role in ensuring high availability, performance, efficiency, and usability of the platform.

**Meet the Cloud Capacity Team**
Our team is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary technology group with a mission to enable the Splunk Cloud to maximize revenue and innovation by working seamlessly to provide our teams and customers with cloud resources exactly when they need them. We operate across multiple cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP and build tools to more efficiently manage the account lifecycle. Your work will enable teams to automate the planning, bootstrapping, account management, deployment, and other tasks associated with building and deploying services in a multi-cloud environment that uses the latest technologies they have to offer.
**What you'll get to do**
+ Own the end-to-end process for the software development lifecycle: collaborate directly with stakeholders on their requirements, then design, develop, test, and deploy!
+ Engage in design and code reviews with a team of peers to ensure code is maintainable and deliverables are well documented, diagnosable, and serviceable.
+ Participate in rotating on-call duties to diagnose and solve customer issues.
+ Expand your knowledge of cloud services, including direct engagement with our Cloud Service Providers on the challenges and benefits of new releases in cloud infrastructure.
**Must-have Qualifications**
+ 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3+ years experience and a Master’s degree
+ Strong fundamentals in software engineering: data structures and algorithms
+ Coding proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Go(preferred), JavaScript, Python.
+ Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Gitlab CI, or similar).
+ Knowledge of REST, gRPC, or similar communication paradigms
+ Experience collaborating with operational teams during issue diagnosis or service interruptions stemming from deployed code or code components.
+ Experience managing public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure
+ Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills including the use of associated tools.

+ Operational excellence: you think beyond feature delivery into how your code is serving customers in production
+ Certified on AWS Cloud Architecture or similar (preferred).
+ Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools and languages like Terraform.
+ Experience with cloud computing expense accounting is highly desired
+ Experience deploying services in Kubernetes on the cloud

Base Pay Range: $121,700.00 - 168,700.00 per year
When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.
Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
