Software Engineer - CCQT Team
NetApp
**Job Summary**
As a software engineer on the CCQT (Compilers and Code Quality Tools) team you will improve the quality, security, and performance of NetApp's entire range of products using compiler-enabled, typically LLVM-based, technologies. You will move between modernizing toolchain infrastructure, deploying new quality tools, making enhancements across our toolchain, contributing those enhancements back to open source communities, improving developer efficiency, and directly working on our product code. You will solve unique challenges in our collaborative environment, while continuously learning along the way.
Ultimately you'll help to use and create tools that accelerate debugging and analysis, prevent code quality and security issues further upstream, and ensure we have the highest-performance code possible.
**Responsibilities**
• Enhance build and compiler pipelines: Extend or configure compilers to improve quality, security and performance.
• Enforce code standards: Build or iterate linters, formatters, and static analyzers.
• Automate code checks: Add tools to catch bugs and enforce quality during CI and code reviews.
• Enable safe coding: use tools like sanitizers or fuzzers to catch undefined behavior and security issues.
• Support developer experience: Build internal tools or plugins to help developers fix issues faster.
• Enhance developer workflows: Design and maintain tools that eliminate manual, repetitive development tasks and reduce friction.
**Job Requirements**
• Passion for improving code and product quality
• Desire to develop and deploy best-of-breed tooling across a large codebase
• Proficiency in C and C++ development
• Comfortable working in a Unix environment
• Ability to analyze and debug issues across both toolchain and production software
• Working knowledge of system software tools such as compilers, linkers, and debuggers
• Familiarity with the LLVM compiler toolchain (clang, lld) and quality tools (sanitizers, libFuzzer) is ideal
**Education**
+ A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, master’s degree is preferred
+ Minimum of 5 years of software development experience
