Software Engineer

Create, test, deploy and maintain cloud services that are part of the product offerings by Red Hat Inc. Develop features with an agile team.

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Red Hat, Inc. office in Boston, MA.

What You Will Do:

Address bug fixes when new software is released, which will vary from error corrections to improving performance of delivered software.Develop new features for products determined by business requirement and implement by analyzing design feasibility.Receive a list of customer-facing scenarios and the recommended solutions, and then communicate with architects to break this down into software architecture design documents and eventually write code.Monitor user activity in Dev Sandbox and communicate with the Project Manager and UX team to make appropriate changes to provide better experience with OpenShift AI and other installed operators.Run benchmarks, perform pen testing and security activities to figure out gaps in our security protocols and write design docs with our tech lead and architect to mitigate and improve upon those findings.Coordinate with other engineers, managers, product managers and system analysts to understand their point of view and incorporate suggestions to make developed features more robust and user friendly.Test any software that is developed for its correct functional operations and conduct stringent performance requirements on it to meet acceptable performance standards.Responsible for timely and quality delivery of software applications and for product quality. Participate in peer code reviews, continuous integration and delivery, and respond to security threats.Perform developer support and maintenance for internal and external stakeholders for the product offerings.Training internal and external stakeholders in using the software and integrating them into customer projects.Act as a point of escalation for customer and internal teams. Use SLI and SLOs to measure system performance and latency and make informed decisions to further optimize the systems.Use a testing framework to write unit tests and end to end tests that run upon every single Pull Request.Keep up with the latest changes in programming language, that include a lot of optimizations behind the scenes, such as efficient for loops and the new library of Generics, to make our interfaces follow the DRY programming principle. Write RCA (Root Cause Analysis) / Postmortems after each security incident. Use JIRA to track EPICs, Stories, Bugs, Features and Business Outcomes.

What You Will Bring:

Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related role.Must have two (2) years of experience with: Golang, Java, C++, Python, JavaScript or similar programming languages; Kubernetes, Docker, Containers, AWS or related Cloud services; CSV such as Git, subversion, maven, or SCM; and Linux or Windows, and Shell Script Programming.

The salary range for this position is $108,760 - $173,800. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
