Software Engineer, Assurant-GCC, India

 

The Software Engineer analyzes requirements and designs, codes, tests, installs and maintains application systems, programs, functions, services, and other related software components in response to enterprise needs of moderate to high complexity.

 

This position will be in Hyderabad/Bangalore at our India location.

 

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

 

Analyze requirements and design solutions for approved projects and change requests of moderate to high complexity and risk (25%)

Review and evaluate the detailed requirements of various stakeholdersPrepare technical design options; consult with hardware and software technicians on options and strategiesDevelop, document and present design solutions and alternativesPrepare estimates of cost, effort and duration for development tasks and activitiesParticipate in technical evaluations of vendor packagesPrepare and contribute toward the preparation of project and product vision documentation

 

Design/develop system, application and program code according to business and technical requirements (50%)

Identify and validate software and infrastructure components required to implement technical solutionsIdentify and validate solution objects, functions, interfaces, dependencies, and integration pointsPrepare design documentation and participate in design reviewsTranslate designs into specifications for required infrastructure and application software componentsCode and unit test solutions independently or as part of a development teamSubmit software products for review of compliance with best practices, standards and enterprise architecture (code review)

 

Implement solutions (10%)

Adhere to Assurant change management requirements for application and system implementationsAnalyze conditions and identify strategies that minimize implementation risk and/or improve system reliability and performanceProvide for disaster recovery and back-out mechanismsPerform or direct software implementation activities according to current standards and policiesMonitor implementations and respond or direct appropriate response in the event of disruptive impacts

 

Provide system support (10%)

Maintain knowledge of overall distributed system environments, utilities and proceduresProvide timely, concise communication of incident status to appropriate personnelDocument incident occurrence and resolution(s) applied using designated repositoriesEvaluate conditions and suggest possible strategies to minimize risk(s) of incident recurrenceConsult with and direct other staff personnel as required for effective incident resolutionResolve development and support issues of moderate to high complexity or risk

 

Maintain and enhance knowledge of the business operations and strategic imperatives of Assurant (5%)

Periodically review business goals and operational and strategic objectivesApply knowledge of the key components and relationships of Assurant products, distribution channels, and customer baseFoster and sustain open communication with business application users and stakeholdersAdhere to the Assurant Core Principles; pursue achievement of excellence in Core CompetenciesKnow the critical success factors supporting the Assurant Core Purpose, Mission, Goals and Strategy

 

Shift work:

Participation in on-call services for production and critical test applications is required.  Including evenings and weekend.

 

Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the company. 

 

What are the requirements needed for this position? 

 

Education:

Bachelors degree in CIS/MIS or equivalent

 

Previous Experience:

4+ years experience working with Oracle EBS

 

Knowledge and Skills:

4+ years experience working with PL/SQL, SQL, or similar languages3+ years experience with EBS Supply Chain Management Modules (INV, BOM, WIP, WMS, etc)3+ years experience analyzing technical problems and delivering solutions of moderate risk.
