About the team and the role:
Do you want to make an impact on the world’s largest e-commerce website? The Risk product development team at eBay is seeking a Senior Back-End Software Engineer to help manage seller and buyer risk on our marketplace. This team is crucial to safeguarding transactions and ensuring platform trust, working within a collaborative and agile environment. You will be engaged with talented peers while building world-class risk products, reporting directly to team leaders focused on engineering excellence and problem-solving.
What you will accomplish:
Design and implement scalable solutions for distributed systems and large-scale databases, enhancing performance efficiency.Develop innovative solutions that align with eBay’s business needs, ensuring functionality and scalability.Engage in cross-functional collaboration with Architecture, QA, Product Management, and Operations teams.Lead design discussions and conduct code reviews, driving team meetings to foster creative engineering.Build technical and domain expertise to effectively address product challenges and enhance risk management.Contribute to eBay’s technology direction with solutions that lead to measurable business improvements.What you will bring:
A minimum of 5 years in software design and development, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.Proficiency in Java/J2EE, Web Services, and design patterns, with experience in object-oriented analysis and design.Experience in developing applications using industry-standard RDBMS; familiarity with NoSQL and big data solutions is advantageous.Strong expertise in agile development processes, with hands-on experience using source control and issue tracking systems like Git and JIRA.Ability to adapt to changing business priorities, demonstrating excellent decision-making and communication skills.Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
