You will ensure team processes are understood, followed, and improved. Responsible for developing and evaluating personnel to ensure efficient operation, continued growth, and positive employee engagement. Responsible for ensuring the delivery of business goals assigned to the team. 
 

Responsibilities: 

Leading a team to develop quality software that is used by some of the world’s largest technology firms, fixed income asset managers, and security traders on Wall Street 

Responsible for ensuring a team’s success, growth, and output 

Providing training, guidance, and mentorship to individuals on the team 

Participating in Agile meetings to contribute with development strategies and product roadmap 

Producing tremendous feature enhancements and reacting quickly to emerging technologies 

Encouraging collaboration and stimulating creativity 

Providing leadership and expertise to our ever-growing workforce 

Leads team with occasional guidance and training from division lead. 

Sets clear expectations for direct reports and meets weekly with direct reports one-on-one.

Develops plans for team members’ growth into a long-term role, but still requires some assistance from division lead.

Proactively fosters a respectful workplace culture within the team 

Ensures team processes are followed and effective, including processes to ensure quality code deploys 

Is a role model for good coding practices

Can function effectively as a L2 SDE

Sets high expectations for team, effectively communicates those expectations, and follows up on them 

Effectively shares positive/negative feedback in a way that encourages ownership and action

Identifies tasks, actions, and responsibilities for immediate direct reports to help them grow in capability

Requirements: 

Demonstrated ability to provide constructive feedback to team members 

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, identify tasks, provide estimates and meet production deadlines 

Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle

Ability to resolve conflict within and across teams and drive consensus to achieve common goals

Ability to provide technical feedback and guidance on architecture, code review, and best practices

10+ years of experience in software development

2+ years of experience leading a development team.

Demonstrated knowledge of computer science fundamentals - Object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms

Fluent in Java or similar object-oriented language

Experience in implementing and consuming large-scale web services

Strong problem-solving skills

Skills:

General knowledge of data structures and algorithmsGeneral knowledge of software design and OOPExperience with at least one of the following languages: C++. Rust, Python Plus / Bonus skills:Experience with JavaScript, web development, cloud infrastructure, Docker, Linux administrationExperience in a Tech or FinTech companyExposure to multiple programming languages and paradigmsExpertise in C++ and PythonExperience with SecDB/Athena/QuartzExperience with SDLC tools and agile methodologies
