Software Development Manager, Time Sync, EC2
Amazon
Description
The Amazon Time Sync service is a sophisticated platform that delivers precise time to EC2 instances, network infrastructure, Amazon Fulfillment Centers, and retail locations. The service is a combination of hardware and software infrastructures to deliver reference clocks with high accuracy.
Time synchronization is a critical requirement of modern, distributed computer systems. Service oriented architectures need to keep accurate time stamped logs across multiple services and multiple instances for debugging and root cause analysis. Authentication and authorization protocols are built on the foundation of accepting connection only with correct timestamps. Financial regulators require accurate timestamps from market participants to ensure trading fairness and auditability.
