Software Development Engineer, S3 Console and Data Experience
Amazon S3 is the storage for internet. The S3 Console is often the first touchpoint for many of our customers, providing the ability to store and retrieve any amount of data from anywhere in the world. Beyond just a frontend for S3 features, the console is a product on its own that drives overall S3 adoption and customer satisfaction. Our console helps customers understand ‘what’ they have, ‘how’ their storage is being used, and the ‘actions’ they can take based on their use cases. Our team is a mix of full stack engineers, frontend engineers, and quality assurance engineers working closely with UX and Product Management to solve challenging problems on behalf of S3 customers. Our customers come from diverse backgrounds spanning different personas, differing levels of experience, different countries, and different expectations on how they would like to interact with AWS S3. As member of the S3 Console, you get to deliver delightful customer experiences for millions of users.

Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities
- Work closely with senior engineers, UX designers, and product managers to develop user-friendly UI experiences
- Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility
- Take feature specifications and deliver working code that is maintainable and extendable.
- Help provide operational support for your team and work to ensure that root causes are identified and resolved.
- Participate in code reviews and daily stand-ups.
- Collaborate with your team to positively impact the software quality, customer experience, and maintainability of your team’s products.

A day in the life
You may be working on any of the stages in the full cycle of software delivery, including design, implementation, testing, or operations of one of our features with our S3 or Storage partner teams. You may be working with partners in UX design, product, or technical writing to bring the best customer experience to life.

About the team
The S3 Console team owns the S3 and Glacier Consoles. Founded in 2017, the org has grown from two individuals to thirty-two members spread out across four teams in Seattle and Vancouver. Out of the twenty-five engineers on the team, seven have been on the Console team for more than 5 years.
