**Introduction** **Your role and responsibilities** Software Developer, IBM Corporation, San Jose, CA (Up to 40% telecommuting permitted): * Design new features and extend OpenTelemetry support with a dynamic architecture. * Maintain OpenTelemetry-related code across Instana’s agent, backend, and frontend. * Debug and resolve customer-reported issues involving OpenTelemetry. * Improve the observability platform, Instana, as a member of the Instana OpenTelemetry team. * Process millions of spans, traces, metrics, and events per second to deliver actionable insights to customers. * Focus on generating, collecting, processing, exporting, visualizing, and analyzing telemetry data using OpenTelemetry. * Collaborate on cross-team OpenTelemetry initiatives. * Improve documentation for seamless customer adoption. * Contribute to the OpenTelemetry open-source community. * Enhance developer tools and pipelines. * Demonstrate strong coding discipline and problem-solving skills. * Utilize: Java, Golang, JavaScript Language, SaaS and Cloud Technologies, CI/CD Implementation, GPU Performance Analysis, OpenTelemetry technologies, Large Language Model (LLM) Integration and Analysis, Application development for Al and LLMs. Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or related and two (2) years of experience as a Software Developer or related.
