Job Title: Software Developer

Role Overview

An experienced Software Developer is needed to provide first-level support and development for internal merchandising and content platform applications. This role focuses on building monitoring tools, resolving software issues, and enhancing system performance using languages like Perl, C/C++, and Java. The developer will also collaborate cross-functionally to support large-scale backend projects and contribute to automation and system documentation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Design and maintain monitoring tools for production applicationsDebug and resolve issues in internally developed softwarePerform SQL queries to extract and improve system feature metricsWork collaboratively with development teams on backend projectsStreamline and automate existing support processesDocument systems, procedures, and implementations thoroughlyOversee the development lifecycle from conception through deployment

Required Skills & Experience

Strong programming skills in Perl, C/C++, and Java (or another object-oriented language)Deep understanding of backend development and DevOps best practicesExperience with deployment pipelines and release lifecycle processesBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field5–7 years of relevant software development experience

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to generative AI or large language model integrationsFamiliarity with Mason, Perl CGI, HTML, and UNIX/Linux environmentsExperience in enterprise-scale software systems is a plus

Work Environment

This is a backend-focused role based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Developers work in a collaborative team structure that follows two-week sprints, regular planning cycles, and daily standups. The environment is dynamic and fast-moving, ideal for professionals who thrive on problem-solving and owning features end to end. The position requires on-site presence five days per week, with potential for contract extension depending on business needs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr.
