Software Dev Engineer III, AWS Analytics & Research
Description AWS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Consumer Experience team. This is a pivotal role leading the team’s data analytics foundation strategy to improve data practice at AWS to better support data-informed decision making. Reporting to the Director of Research and Analytics, you will be responsible for collaborating with data engineering teams across AWS to improve data quality, streamline workflows, and scale best practices in data management. As the technical lead, you will work with data scientists and other data engineers to design and implement optimized, scalable data design and pipelines, and enable efficient use datasets that improve data accessibility to deliver faster, deeper insights that improve our customer experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in complex, highly ambiguous data and analytics environments at scale, driving solutions to develop better data practices. You will have technical proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and building/managing scalable data pipelines in cloud-based environments. Key job responsibilities * Develop and implement a data strategy that ensures scalable, reliable access to high-quality datasets and metrics. Collaborate with data science and data engineering teams to design, build and maintain efficient, streamlined data pipelines and models for analytics use cases that empowers teams to use better data assets. * Collaborate with data engineering teams to enhance data usability, reliability, and scalability of core data and metrics. Identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks and eliminate redundant or manual data tasks, simplifying and resolving root causes. * Provide guidance and expertise in data design, management and utilization best practices, can incorporate new and advanced industry technologies and, speaks about the technical trade-offs between short-term needs and long-term goals. Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
