Description - Data/Software engineer Our client is looking for someone with data engineering experience with a strong software engineering background , analysis, and technical leadership background for our teams. Here’s a sneak peek. On a day-to-day basis, we primarily use cloud Databricks, Amazon Web Services, and Snowflake. Python is our favorite language! We are responsible for ingesting data from many different sources, but also for the sometimes complex transformation of this data, to provide our scientists with quality data that is ready for machine learning. In this mission, you will be supported by quality analysts, business analysts, application architects, and data architects. We use Agile as our organizational methodology, with the support of our product owners and our scrum masters. Data foundation project: Building ETL and ingestion frameworks, reducing the number of code iterations and rewrites—fast-track delivery on the ingestion framework. Data Vision Project: Data ready to consume, avoiding wasting datasets, way less time doing ML, and more Data foundation projects. What you'll do here: • With your team, you will participate in the analysis design, development, and delivery of efficient, effective, and secure data pipelines. • Building on your experience, you will have the opportunity to participate in the implementation of industry best practices. • Through your leadership, you will be an agent of change who will grow our data engineering practice to make our lab an industry benchmark. What you bring to the table: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or any equivalent combination of training and experience. • 6+ years experience in Software Engineering / Data Engineering / ETL development / Data Warehousing. • Experience in Big Data and Cloud technologies for processing large volumes of data. • Understanding of data management, security and data classification. • Strong proficiency in the Python programming language and the PySpark Framework. Basic understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Must-Have Skills: - 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering (OOP, design pattern, building programs, not only scripts), Data Engineering / ETL development / Data Warehousing. - Experience in Big Data and Cloud technologies for processing large volumes of data. - AWS is preferred but GCP + Azure is acceptable. - Understanding of data management, security, and data classification. - Strong proficiency in the Python programming language and the PySpark Framework. - Databricks experience - set up job clusters, related to the jobs, the workflows, and configuration Nice-To-Have Skills: - Bilingual - French + English - Strong communication + stakeholder management - Power BI experience - ML/AI Experience - understanding consumer context - Thorough experience with Snowflake (a lot of SQL) - Only for warehousing, strong SQL, understand brown, silver, and gold matallion architecture, data modeling experience Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $90.00/hr.
