 Your role and responsibilities

This is a Senior Technical Leadership role in Cloud and AI platform, reporting to the Vice President in ABB Ability™ Genix - industrial analytics and artificial intelligence Platform in business area Process Automation located in Bangalore. You will be leading the Product delivery team including Plat-form Services at Ability Innovation Center (AIC), home to the largest technology and engineering pool in ABB globally and is a part of ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited, a subsidi-ary of ABB. It is based in Bangalore, the silicon-valley of India. Its unique infrastructure places re-search, development, engineering, and service teams under one roof, increasing collaboration and reducing time to market, with no compromise on quality.

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Engineering Manager to join our team and lead the development and advancement of ABB Ability™ Genix, with a specific focus on deployment automation, packaging, and Core Technical Capabilities. As an Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to work directly with a talented team of engineers, driving technology excellence, Agile Delivery Excellence, and fostering People Excellence.

This role is contributing to Process Automation business for Process Automation Digital division based in Bangalore Southfield, India

Your responsibilities

1.       Modern Automation of CI-CD Pipeline

Design and architect CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.Implement automation and orchestration to streamline environment provisioning and configuration.Create documentation, provide training, and facilitate knowledge transfer on CI/CD best practices and procedures.

2.       GitOps Implementation:

Define and establish GitOps practices and workflows for managing infrastructure and application deployments.Set up Git repositories for infrastructure as code (IaC) and Kubernetes manifests.

3.       Service Management and Developer Portal :

•           Integrate tooling (such as Backstage.io) as a developer portal and central hub for managing services and resources.

4.       Workflow Automation:

Develop automation scripts and workflows that leverage GitOps and Developer portals to streamline infrastructure and deployment processes.Define automated processes for service creation and updates, ensuring consistency.

5.       Monitoring and Reporting:

Implement monitoring and reporting features in developer portal to provide in-sights into service and deployment status.Enable tracking of deployment history and performance metrics.

Qualifications for the roleBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.Proven experience (15+ years) in a technical leadership, working with software engineering teams.Expertise in designing and architecting CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.Experience with Git repository management and Git branching strategies.Proficiency in automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform).Knowledge of security best practices, including security scanning and compliance checks.Strong expertise in developing automation scripts and workflows that streamline infrastructure and deployment processes.Experience with deployment strategies such as blue-green deployments and canary releases.Exposure to work with deployment experts in defining and establishing GitOps practices and workflows.More about us
