Position SummaryThe San Diego State University Athletic Department is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Softball Operations Specialist to support the NCAA Division I Softball program. Reporting to the Head Softball Coach, this position plays an essential role in enhancing the daily operations and competitive success of the program.
Key Responsibilities:
Practice Operations: Coordinate the preparation and execution of daily practices, including developing structured practice plans and conducting post-practice evaluations to support player development and team strategy. Performance Analysis: Assist coaches by breaking down game and practice film and preparing detailed data to facilitate player meetings and inform game strategies. Scouting Support: Contribute to the development of scouting reports for upcoming opponents by compiling relevant statistics, film analysis, and competitive insights. Game Day Management: Manage assigned operational duties during home and away games, ensuring the team is equipped and organized for optimal performance. This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of August 31, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
Key Qualifications
Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Basic knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction. Ability to travel to competitions. Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations of Division I Softball. Previous experience using Microsoft Office, Gmail, Synergy software, ARMS/Teamworks. (preferred)Licenses/Certifications Required
