Social Services Coordinator

Location: Hobbs Corps

Status: FT/40hrs/wk (may require flex schedule to include nights and weekends)

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field required (MSW preferred); experience may substitute on a 2:1 ratio. Minimum of three years of experience in social services, preferably in direct service to the unhoused. Demonstrated experience in grant compliance, statistical analysis, program development, financial management, and staff development. Experience supervising staff and managing daily program operations. Able to oversee all aspects of outreach programs including staffing, food distribution, information & referral. Experience with food pantry programs and community food distribution. Able to handle crisis/emergency services for the homeless and working poor using crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and crowd management skills. Experience helping individuals and families in crisis situations and assessing at-risk participants and situations. Proven ability to maximize services within budgetary constraints and make necessary financial adjustments. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision and productively in a team environment. Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to work respectfully and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Able to maintain a non-judgmental demeanor, use a professional approach, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess strong time management skills; detail-oriented and well organized. Excellent knowledge of local community resources and ability to make referrals. Ability to quickly become proficient in Salvation Army-approved Social Service programs and network requirements. Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and able to learn Salvation Army systems such as HMIS and WellSky. Ability to work in an office setting and operate office equipment. Must be able to type at least 50 words per minute. Must possess a valid New Mexico driver’s license with a clean MVR. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and complete The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety e-learning module.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibility of the operation of all Salvation Army Social Service Programs to include but not limited to the following: Food Book Program, Utility Assistance Program, Rental Assistance Program, Emergency Shelter Program, Street-Level Ministry Program For the above programs be responsible for the following aspects of each program: Determining eligibility, Maintaining records, Monitoring costs, Oversee staff, Recruit, secure, and train volunteers, recording all statistics relating to same, Ensure compliance it PTM policies & protocols for volunteers that are assigned to work with or have access to children, Inventory control, Intake of clients, Distribution of funds and goods, Promotion of special events, Case Management, Securing outside vendors to aide clients i.e., motels, transportation companies and other related providers who can assist clients. Office procedures, record keeping, and supplies the following responsibilities would be required: Recording and filing (electronically) of all casework documents, Prepare and submit all required daily, weekly and monthly reports and statistics, Communicate the supply needs of Social Services to the Corps Officers Seasonal activities with requirements to include but not limited to the following: Networking with holiday goods and/or service providers in the community, Seasonal Heat Relief Program, Seasonal Thanksgiving Assistance including intake & distribution procedures, Seasonal Christmas Assistance including intake & distribution, Seasonal Back to School Program, Helping with the angel tree program, especially with the production of angel tree tags Case Management: Oversee all aspects of case management, Maintain a client caseload, Conduct interviews, assessing immediate & long term needs, and developing case plans, Provide case management and needed services to low-income and/or at risk individuals/families in compliance with program policies and procedures, Manage wellness check-ups as needed for social service clients, Write accurate and concise case notes for each client, Work collaboratively in striving to provide service excellence to clients General Duties: Maintain accurate program records of EFSP, SHARE AND REACH programs, as well as volunteers, Manage court appointed volunteers and track hours for reporting back to probation department, Manage the food pantry; assisting clients and stocking shelves, bagging food and other related duties when necessary, Maintain neat and organized work area, Networking with other agencies and organizations, Other duties, as assigned as they relate to the position of Social Service Coordinator, Observe & ensure that TSA, city, county, state, & federal rules, regulations, & guidelines are followed. Attend community meetings, public relation events and seminars as directed, Research, create, & propose alternative methodologies of service delivery to extend outreach of social service programs. Develop and propose new programs to enhance current offerings of the Glendale Corps Social Service Department. Work, in conjunction with the Divisional Social Service Director & Divisional Grant Writer, to enhance & expand programs

Other duties as assigned as related to the position of Social Service Coordinator.
