The Position
Social Services Chiefs manage the overall design, analysis, development and evaluation of social services programs.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Social Services Chief 2 located in Carson City. The Social Services Chief 2 will develop and implement policies and procedures, within relevant regulations and collaborative child welfare statewide policies as well as function as a liaison to the child welfare agencies, advocate for changes in process and procedure and is responsible for statewide oversight of child welfare program activities. They will also create and approve written and verbal reports including the annual APSR, CFSP, Statewide Assessments, Child and Family Services Reviews, Program Improvement Plans, budget building, budget justifications and write white papers. Incumbents will be responsible for ensuring staff, management, the child welfare agency, and federal partners have all the necessary information for required reports by meeting deadlines, completing requested assignments, advising of any concerns/issues with the completion of the request timely and assist in other program areas as needed, and provide progress regarding activities and outcomes associated with this job element. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public or business administration or related field and four years of professional social services experience which included directing social services or the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex federal regulations, writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management. Two years of the required experience must have included supervision of staff at a paraprofessional level or above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
