GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Manager, Marketing, the Specialist, Social Media is responsible for the museum’s presence across multiple social media accounts, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and emerging platforms. The specialist implements tactics to increase engagement, grow digital communities, and drive digital performance, while ensuring content aligns with institutional priorities, attendance goals, and engagement metrics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Plan, create, and implement museum-wide social media strategy and maintain editorial calendar for platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms.
+ Develop and execute interactive social media campaigns utilizing new content types and features for museum exhibitions and events, with the goal of increasing awareness, attendance, engagement, and growth across platforms.
+ Actively engage with followers, encouraging participation, and fostering a sense of connection across social media platforms to grow digital community and boost community interaction.
+ Create, edit, and post engaging written and visual social media content, including photos, video, and copy that highlights the museum’s services, exhibitions, and events in the metropolitan Detroit region.
+ Support Manager, Marketing in the creation and performance measurement of social media ads to enhance reach, engagement and conversion rates across all platforms.
+ Review social media data and insights to track growth, audience engagement, and content performance.
+ Develop and implement strategies based on analytics to increase reach and effectiveness.
+ Respond promptly to customer service inquiries on social media platforms, ensuring a visitor-centered approach that upholds the museum's reputation.
+ Promptly disseminate crisis communications through social media as needed, maintaining transparency and timely updates.
+ Apply DIA values to interactions to support a culture of belonging among internal and external stakeholders.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field required. Four (4) years of relevant work experience developing and managing engaging social media campaigns, creating platform-specific content, analyzing performance metrics, and fostering audience growth across multiple channels.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Demonstrated collaboration skills to work across departments and divisions internally and with diverse stakeholders externally.
+ Demonstrated ability to speak publicly, including presenting or sharing information in a clear, effective, and engaging manner suited to the audience.
+ Familiarity with video editing software and apps
+ Demonstrated experience creating and editing video content tailored to diverse platforms.
+ Strong visual storytelling skills to enhance creative projects through video.
+ Demonstrated ability to share complex information, ideas, and instructions clearly, effectively, and professionally to diverse audiences through talking or writing.
+ Demonstrated organizational skills to plan, manage, prioritize, and complete multiple on-going projects to meet deadlines and goals.
+ Ability to identify challenges and opportunities, engage others in their resolution, and recommend appropriate course of action.
+ Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail and produce accurate results.
+ Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes in priorities based on operational need.
+ Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours for special events.
+ Must be proficient in the latest version of Microsoft Office 365.
+ Must have proficiency in the use of remote work technology such as scheduling with, connecting to, and using digital collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
+ Must be able to establish and maintain professional, productive, and courteous interactions that promote positive teamwork. This encompasses going beyond giving and receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.
