As a Social Media Intern, you will play a pivotal role in planning, organizing, and executing social media projects that align with our strategic goals. You will contribute to social media strategy development, craft social media copy, support social media governance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring creative ideas to life. This role will support the Communications team on several projects and activities, contributing to Alcon’s purpose of helping people see brilliantly.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Social Media Management:
Develop engaging social media copy and playbooks, and manage internal approvals (Medical, Regulatory, Legal) through the Veeva Vault PlatformContribute to the creation of compelling multimedia content—including digital images, videos, and copy—and execute and optimize social media campaigns across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues across Marketing & Communications to bring creative ideas to lifeSupport the development and implementation of Alcon’s social media strategies and best practices, engaging stakeholders and partnersSocial Media Governance:
Monitor, moderate, and provide compliance reporting for social media channels on a ongoing basisTrack and analyze performance data, deliver campaign reports, assess engagement, and recommend improvements to maximize reach and effectiveness using key metrics and analyticsProject Coordination:
Work closely with communications and marketing teams, as well as agency partners, to support integrated marketing and PR campaignsAssist in planning and management of social media editorial calendarDrive employee engagement and promote social media literacy across the organizationOther administrative support tasks as assigned by the Communications teamWHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Minimum: Post-Secondary, University degree in progress or completed in a program of study such as Social Media Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or relatedAvailable for a 3-4 month work term at minimumA natural storyteller and clear communicator who creates compelling, audience-first digital contentExperience in and a passion for social media content creation, particularly social video content creation is a strong asset. Strong knowledge of key social platforms (Facebook Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn) and experience with social media governance and compliance.Solid understanding of social media analytics and paid advertisingComfortable leveraging AI tools and other emerging tools to enhance content and campaignsProficiency in design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.) and skilled in video editing for quick-turn content for social media or internal communications channels is a plus.French language skills are an assetHOW YOU CAN THRIVE AT ALCON:
