Job Description About the Opportunity A leading global shipbroking and consultancy firm, established around 40 years ago, and headquartered in Singapore, is seeking a Senior Shipbroker to spearhead its new office in Spain. Key Responsibilities Market Development: Build and maintain relationships with oil majors and key stakeholders in Spain’s maritime and energy sectors. Deal Negotiation: Broker complex tanker deals (crude, CPP, chemical) between shipowners and charterers, ensuring optimal outcomes. Team Leadership: Establish the foundation for a new office, recruiting and mentoring talent to create a cohesive team. Market Analysis: Provide clients with insights on freight rates, vessel availability, and global shipping trends, leveraging proprietary data. Industry Representation: Represent the company at conferences, industry events, and client meetings to enhance market presence. Compliance: Ensure contracts comply with international maritime regulations, such as SOLAS and MARPOL. Who We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate is an experienced Senior Shipbroker with a strong background in tanker broking and a passion for the maritime industry. Key qualifications include:
Experience: 5+ years in shipbroking, with expertise in oil tankers (crude, CPP, or chemical). Relationships with oil majors are highly desirable. Skills: Exceptional negotiation, communication, and networking abilities, with a commercial mindset and proactive approach. Leadership: Vision to establish and grow a new office, with the ability to inspire and guide a team. Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of global shipping markets, freight rates, and regulatory frameworks. Adaptability: Comfort working across time zones in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Education: Degree in maritime studies, business, or a related field preferred; Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) qualifications are a plus. Why Join?
