You Are:
UST is looking for a Semiconductor Validation SME who will lead technical execution across platform and firmware validation domains. The role requires strong knowledge of system architecture, validation strategy, debug capabilities, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will drive validation best practices across diverse hardware platforms and guide cross-functional teams toward achieving validation excellence.
The opportunity:
· Define validation strategy, test coverage, and automation scope for next-generation silicon and platform programs.
· Debug triage across firmware (BIOS/BMC), driver, and board/system levels.
· Guide junior engineers and validation teams across Redmond and offshore sites.
· Work closely with silicon, platform, BIOS, and OS teams to align validation goals and debug escalations.
· Conduct hands-on validation including flashing firmware, configuring test beds, and reproducing system-level issues.
· Analyze logs, traces, and failure signatures to identify root causes across hardware/software boundaries.
· Oversee validation frameworks and drive continuous improvement.
· Present technical validation status to client stakeholders and internal UST leadership.
· Contribute to coverage reports, gap analysis, automation dashboards, and post-mortem reviews.
· Ensure project timelines, milestones, and quality standards are met or exceeded.

What you need:
· Strong expertise in validation and debug for x86-based platforms.
· Hands-on experience with UEFI/BIOS, BMC/IPMI, CPLD, and low-level firmware interaction.
· Good scripting knowledge in Python or PowerShell for automation or debug triage.
· Experience in leading technical teams across firmware/platform validation or silicon readiness programs.
· Familiarity with Windows and Linux OS-level bring-up and validation practices.
· Strong documentation and communication skills for technical and executive reporting.
· Desired Skills:
· Experience with validation automation environments.
· Hands-on experience with platform bring-up labs and debug tools (serial console, JTAG, ITP).
· Knowledge of Azure DevOps, Jira, or defect tracking tools.
· Prior experience in customer-facing roles or leading validation activities in client engagements.
· Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
· 10+ years of experience in hardware platform validation, debug, or embedded systems.
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: Washington
Compensation Range: $86,400-$129,600

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.
