You Are:

We are looking for hands-on and detail-oriented SmartHands Data Center Engineers to support the physical infrastructure of our data center in Helsinki.

 

The opportunity:

·       Perform racking and stacking of servers, network devices, and storage systems.

·       Execute structured cabling (fiber and copper) according to standards and documentation.

·       Label, route, and manage cables to maintain a clean and organized environment.

·       Assist with hardware replacements, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

·       Provide physical support for remote teams (e.g., rebooting devices, swapping components).

·       Escort vendors and ensure compliance with site access protocols.

·       Perform visual inspections and report anomalies (e.g., LED status, cable disconnections).

·       Support inventory management by logging equipment movements and updates.

 

 

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

 

What you need:

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a data center or colocation environment performing hardware installs, structured cabling, and physical infrastructure maintenance. Proficient in reading and interpreting network diagrams, floor layouts, rack elevation drawings, and cable maps. Working knowledge of copper and fiber optic cabling standards, tools (e.g., crimpers, cable testers, punch-down tools), and troubleshooting techniques. Experience using basic system diagnostic tools such as IPMI, iLO, or serial consoles is a plus. Ability to lift, move, and position server and networking equipment Comfortable working in high-availability environments and following strict operational procedures.

 

Soft Skills & Work Traits

Excellent communication and coordination skills to interact with remote teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented mindset. Dependable and self-motivated with the ability to work independently during off-hours, nights, or weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy. Exposure to data center monitoring systems (DCIM tools).

 

 

 

 

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Canada

Compensation Range: $86,000-$108,000

 

 

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They and their dependents residing in Canada are eligible for Supplemental Healthcare coverage, as well as Company-paid Employee Only basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year). They and their dependents residing in Canada are eligible for Supplemental Healthcare coverage, as well as Company-paid Employee Only basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.

Part-time regular and temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).

All Canadian employees who work in a province, territory or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
