We are on the lookout for an SLRS Service Expert to join our dynamic and rapidly growing team, committed to getting vessels back in operation with minimal downtime through effective and agile repair activities worldwide. This is a permanent position, with the flexibility of location across our global operational regions.


What will you be doing?
In this global role, you will become a crucial part of Wärtsilä Shaft Line Repair Services (SLRS). 
SLRS is a growing segment within SLS, playing a critical role in our strategy with a team of dedicated professionals across the globe, supporting both commercial and naval fleets.

As the SLRS Service Expert, you will play a central role in supporting and coordinating service activities, enabling service teams, and ensuring smooth project delivery. You will also help grow our global repair capabilities by identifying new partners, onboarding new technical talent, and expanding the SLRS network.

You will report to the SLRS Field Service Manager or SLRS Business Development Manager, depending on location and structure.

 

Your main responsibilities:
- Project Support: Act as the technical and operational focal point for SLRS repair projects, supporting field teams with preparation, documentation, troubleshooting, and follow-up.
- Coordination: Liaise between service teams, engineering, sales, and project management to ensure alignment on scope, timelines, and quality standards.
- Service Enablement: Help ensure that service teams are properly briefed, equipped, and supported before and during project execution.
- Partner Development: Identify, evaluate, and support the onboarding of new partners in key global locations.
- Talent Scouting: Contribute to the identification and integration of new talent into our FS & SLRS network.
- Market Development: Contribute to explore new opportunities, promote our repair offering, and expand our market presence.
- Process Improvement: Help standardize procedures, templates, and best practices to improve service quality and efficiency across the board.
- Quality & Reporting: Review and compile service documentation, feedback reports, and lessons learned to ensure continuous improvement.


Main requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in technical service, project coordination, or operations within the ship repair industry. 
- Project Mindset: Comfortable managing multiple tasks across global projects, with a focus on planning, coordination, and follow-up.
- Communication Skills: Strong communicator who can interact effectively with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
- Technical Understanding: Familiarity with mechanical repair processes, shaft alignment, or in-situ services is an advantage.
- Education: Technical degree or equivalent experience in marine, mechanical, or industrial engineering fields.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think proactively and act as a problem-solver in dynamic, high-paced environments.
- Team Player: Collaborative mindset with an interest in building networks and enabling others to succeed.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Chinese is required; additional languages are a plus.

Availability: Willingness to travel occasionally to support key projects, customers, exhibitions or onboarding activities.
