Key Responsibilities:
KBR is seeking a Skill Level 2 Software Engineer to join our team in Alexandria, VA (Mark Center) to support on-site work in support of the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), Prototyping and Experimentation (P&E). As a Software Engineer with KBR, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based on documented requirements. You will work individually and as part of a team, review and test software components for adherence to design requirements, and document test results. You will resolve software problem reports, utilize appropriate software development and design methodologies, and provide input to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and requirements analysis.
14 years of experience required.
Perform all Skill Level 1 functions. Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resources, or interface constraints. Perform quality control on team products.
Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces. Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.
Architect and develop Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (API) to ensure secure, reliable communication between distributed systems. Architect and manage cloud-based solutions.

Qualifications: Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer programming, engineering, or a relevant technical/analytics discipline.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong customer service skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to work well independently or as a team member.
Experience with CI/CD pipeline. Experience using Flask for web application and REST API development. Proficiency in Git.
An active TS/SCI clearance 14+ years of relevant work experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Desired:
Experience using tools like Python and SQL. Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS GovCloud.
Active Full Scope Polygraph and any Data Engineer certification Preferred: AWS certifications

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
