Our Verify, Fraud & Financial Crime team is seeking a Property SIU Desk Investigator who is passionate about uncovering the truth and protecting our customers. As the escalation point for questionable claims, policies, and suppliers, you will conduct both desk-based and field investigations to assess the validity of suspicious activity.

What You’ll Do
Develop investigation strategies, gather and analyze facts, order searches, and engage investigative vendors as needed
Conduct interviews, take recorded statements, and participate as necessary in Examinations Under Oath (EUOs)
Manage case files, ensuring defensibility, proper documentation, and evidence collection (physical and electronic)
Prioritize investigations based on capacity and impact, collaborating with other investigators as needed
Determine when investigations are ready for disposition and provide clear, supported recommendations
Prepare for and participate in Decision Panel meetings
Provide technical expertise and guidance on fraud detection, investigation, and resolution
Support Claims Advisors and other stakeholders with investigative techniques
Deliver exceptional customer service, including managing difficult supplier interactions
Collaborate with colleagues across Verify, Claims, Underwriting, and Legal
Continuously evaluate evidence to determine claim validity
Contribute to the development and enhancement of fraud detection tools and indicators
Deliver fraud awareness and investigation training (e.g., huddles, workshops, coaching)
Attend court as required and prepare Aviva witnesses for testimony
Ensure investigations comply with corporate guidelines, legislation, and regulatory requirements
What You’ll Bring
Post-secondary education (insurance or investigation-related preferred)
CIP designation or working toward completion
Minimum 5 years of experience in investigating or adjusting property and/or auto claims
Experience handling complex claimants, policyholders, and suppliers
Strong technical knowledge of property claims and insurance policies
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Investigative or litigation background preferred
Solid understanding of claims and underwriting processes
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong communication skills—diplomatic, empathetic, and clear
Ability to de-escalate challenging situations
Confident working in ambiguous or high-pressure environments
Knowledge of applicable statutory conditions and legislation
