Summary:
Our client, a leading player in the commercial construction sector, is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations on large-scale projects in Vancouver, BC. This role requires deep expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, a strong command of construction best practices, and a commitment to safety, quality, and team leadership.
Role Overview
The Superintendent will be responsible for managing on-site activities, coordinating trades, and ensuring that all mechanical and electrical components are executed to the highest standards. This includes overseeing installations, resolving technical conflicts, and maintaining alignment with project timelines and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Direct field operations to ensure compliance with design documents, codes, and safety regulations
Collaborate on scope development and tender documentation for mechanical and electrical trades
Manage schedules for M&E submissions, deliveries, installations, and inspections
Support project leadership with RFIs, shop drawings, and close-out documentation
Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to meet project milestones
Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies in structural and M&E documentation
Conduct preventative maintenance checks and oversee system commissioning
Lead stakeholder meetings and mentor junior staff
Uphold quality standards through rigorous adherence to project protocols
MUST HAVES
5- 10+ years of experience in a supervisory role on large ICI (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial) projects
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, boilers, chillers, and electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret M&E drawings and specs.
Proven ability to manage subcontractors and enforce safety and quality standards
Familiarity with OH&S and environmental compliance
NICE TO HAVES & SOFT SKILLS
Experience with healthcare or design-build projects is an asset
Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment screening - DRUG AND ALC
Familiarity with OH&S and environmental standards
Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Experience with functional performance testing and preventative maintenance
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
