Site Safety and Health Officer
This position is responsible for leading and managing Amentums Safety and Health programs in accordance with the Accident Prevention Plan for the Base Operations Support (BOS) contract at Naval Station Mayport and Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island, Jacksonville, FL. The SSHO leads two safety and health technicians in the performance of their duties, assigns work, and evaluates performance. The SSHO is responsible for implementing and documenting monthly Safety / BeyondZero™ meetings and daily worker toolbox meetings. Delivering new employee orientation and SOH training that meets regulatory, NAVFAC and Amentums requirements. Inspecting and auditing work areas daily for compliance. Identifying, controlling, and tracking hazards to closure. Investigating safety incidents for root causes and corrective actions. Keeping site and corporate leadership informed. Prepares reports and presentation. Tracks safety metrics. Monitors subcontractor safety. Other duties as assigned. Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field preferred. Five (5) years of continuous safety experience in supervising safety and/or managing safety programs or processes. 30-hour OSHA course or an equivalent is mandatory. Nationally accredited Safety or Occupational Health certification or ability to gain an acceptable certification within 12 months. Competent at applying OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, NAVFAC P-307 and USACE standards. Experience with NAVFAC contracts a plus. Documented Competent Person/Trainer status in Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Lockout/Tag, Respiratory Protection and/or Hearing Conservation is desirable. Experience with Load Handling Equipment (LHE) required. Experience with Microsoft Office required. Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English and comfortable speaking in group settings. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, capable of passing DoD security background checks, able access and drive on DoD facilities and pass company drug screening and pre-employment physical requirements.
