We are seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be pivotal in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems. You will collaborate closely with both development and infrastructure teams to design and implement solutions that enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.
A critical component of this role involves Splunk administration, which will serve as a cornerstone of our observability strategy. You will be responsible for architecting, maintaining, and optimizing our Splunk environment to ensure comprehensive visibility across infrastructure, applications, and services.
The Site Reliability Engineer will:
Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and resiliency.
Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems, with Splunk and other observability tools.
Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.
Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and scalability through proactive measures.
Support the administration of Splunk, including:
Designing and maintaining index configurations, data retention policies, and ingestion pipelines.
Onboarding new data sources and ensuring data normalization and enrichment using props, transforms, and field extractions.
Building and optimizing dashboards, reports, and alerts to support proactive monitoring, incident response, and capacity planning.
Integrating Splunk with other observability tools and platforms (e.g., cloud-native logging, APM, SIEM).
Ensuring Splunk performance and scalability through capacity planning, clustering, and forwarder management.
Requirements:
3+ years of hands-on experience administering Splunk in a large-scale cloud/enterprise environment.
6+ years of experience in Infrastructure as Code tools, Site Reliability Engineering/DevOps, and Technology Operations.
Proficient in UNIX administration.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes Certified Administrator, Splunk Certified Admin or Architect) highly preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

This position will be located at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.

Pay Range: $140,000 – $175,000 (Based upon relatable skills/experience)
