We are currently seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support our ongoing operations as a Designer’s Site Representative (DSR) on a secure Infrastructure/ Structure project at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.
This role is ideal for someone with previous site experience on major engineering projects who can proactively identify issues early on. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the safe and effective delivery of major projects within a highly regulated environment.
As a member of the DSR team, you will work closely with the DSR Leads and design teams to represent AECOM on-site, helping to ensure that construction works are delivered in accordance with the design intent, technical specifications, and quality standards. The role will involve regular interface with clients, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams across the project lifecycle.
**What you’ll do!**
+ Supporting the DSR Package Leads by providing on-site representation of the design team.
+ Undertaking inspections and assessments of construction activities at key hold points for RC structural elements and concrete works to ensure compliance with design documentation.
+ Preparing clear and concise technical reports and inspection/surveillance records.
+ Attending site meetings, liaising with client representatives, resolving technical issues, and contributing to collaborative solutions.
+ Monitoring site works to ensure alignment with the relevant safety, environmental and quality standards.
+ Reviewing contractor proposals to check for alignment with design requirements and specifications.
+ Coordinate and support responses to Technical Queries (TQs).
+ Proactively identify and raise any health and safety concerns during site and day-to-day activities.

**Qualifications**
**Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?**
**Requirements:**
+ Degree-qualified or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering.
+ Familiarity with the inspection of reinforcement, including ability to read reinforcement drawings and bending schedules. Willingness to undertake training to develop this competency.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on-site with clients and contractors.
+ A proactive and motivated approach to problem-solving and site-based delivery.
+ Ideally, prior site experience on major infrastructure or structural projects (desirable but not essential).
+ Good understanding and awareness of health and safety practices in a construction environment.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience working in a DSR or construction inspection role on large civil or structural engineering projects.
+ Knowledge of relevant industry standards.
+ Good understanding of the principles of reinforced concrete design and construction, including reinforcement detailing.
+ Previous experience working in secure or highly regulated environments (e.g., defence, nuclear, MOD sites) is an advantage.
**Important Details:**
+ Ability to work full-time on-site within a secure facility.
+ Eligibility to obtain UK MOD Security Clearance is essential.
+ Valid CSCS card or ability to obtain one promptly.
