RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as EHS representative on the management team for the site.Oversee the permit strategy to sustain the up-to-date operation associated licenses and to comply with the regulatory requirements.Ensure that systems are established and implemented to enable understanding of compliance requirements for the sites and business.Provide EHS leadership guidance to drive an injury-free workplace safety culture.Analyze and evaluate EH&S performance across the sites and develop strategic improvement plans and initiatives to integrate improvements into business operations.Develop strategies for integrating the internal and external EHS requirements into business operations.Work with the Regional / Hub EHS leader to leverage best practices and tools from other sites, EHS professional networks, trade and professional associations.Support the site level EHS committee and sub-committee as the safety subject matter specialist, and ensure the high quality activities and effective communication.Be a visual presence on the production floor and provide counsel, advice and support to other functions on EHS related matters.Develop and deploy EHS training to cover all employees and on-site contractors.Oversee injury and illness recordkeeping and case management process; maintain relevant logs and documentation.Conduct incident investigations to identify the root causes and communicate key learnings from environmental, health and safety eventsDevelop and track corrective actions from EHS audits / inspections and EHS incidents, and ensure the effective closure of EHS findings.Develop and maintain relationships with local agencies and take leadership role on the routine interaction.Manage the site EHS staff and guide their professional development to ensure technical / functional and operating skills are current and effective.

REQUIREMENTS

Familiar with China EHS related regulations and standards, China Certified Safety engineer (CSE) is preferred.Familiar with ISO 14001 / 45001, certified internal auditor is preferred.EHS functional/technical expertise with strong knowledge of safe work practices, auditing, record keeping, root cause investigation, and preparing/delivering training.Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines as well as manage change and work independently.Networking, influence, and conflict resolution skills with strong focus on deliverables with excellent oral and written skills along with the ability to apply these in the regulatory, advocacy and public affairs cultureLeadership experience in managing EHS management practices, processes, and expectations is preferred.Ability to connect with operators and mechanics and persuade line organizations in safe behaviors and practices.Ability to work independently, contribute within a team, and actively engage and partner with manufacturing and technical associates.Ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and regulators.Machine shop experience is preferred.Technical writing abilities in English and Chinese.Proficiency in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience in an Occupational Safety or affiliated discipline or another applicable technical field (engineering, chemistry, biology).Ten years or more professional experience in manufacturing safety role.Five years or more management experience to mentor, coach and develop the team.Registered safety engineer is preferred.
