Site Development Manager (MEP)

The position is permanent, and the preferred location is in Havant, Portsmouth – onsite.

 

We are now looking for a Site Development Manager to join Wärtsilä Defence Solutions Limited (WDSL) on a permanent basis, accountable for our site development & investment strategy.

You will lead these aspects of the company in Havant, reporting to the Head of Projects but also working closely with other stakeholders in the Shaft Line Solutions (SLS) business unit.

This role will be a key contributor to the delivery of the company strategy regarding investment and to achieve or growth targets. The successful applicant will need to be challenging assumptions and decision making as appropriate and providing guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers related to site development and investment.

You will need to establish a high level of credibility, creating strong working relationships with internal & external stakeholders.

Lead and motivate the team(s) to ensure safety, quality and output of the functions, in line with the business strategy, management expectations, relevant legislation and regulations.

Develop and instil a culture of continuous improvement whilst monitoring of performance, development, training and succession planning.

What you will be doing:

 

Working closely with the Operations team developing business investments plans. Ensuring safety, enforcing health and safety regulations, conducting regular inspections and addressing safety concerns. Project Management & Planning of construction, site upgrade and new asset installation projects. Site Supervision including contractor management. Liaising with landlords, contractors’ architects and other stakeholders. Implementing quality control measures and conducting inspections to ensure work meets standards. Site reports, maintaining records and managing project documentation.

 

As Site Development Manager (MEP), your work will focus on these responsibilities:

 

Defining and executing the site investment roadmap. Acquire capital expenditure approvals & continue delivery of approved capex in line with strategy to agreed scope, schedule and budget. Contractor management from early stage through the lifecycle of the project. Overseeing testing, commissioning and handover completed projects to operations, maintenance and facilities. Ensuring the projects are compliant with Environmental, Health & Safety policy, procedures, and operational controls to meet all legal requirements including RAMs and CDM. Ensuring projects are managed effectively and comply to site physical security. Stay current with new safety regulations and best practices in the construction & manufacturing industries. Project management documentation, including risk management plans and reporting.

 

 

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

 

Excellent communication and leadership skills. Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Solid understanding of MEP principles in manufacturing. Knowledge of building codes and regulations. Strong understanding of health & safety legislation. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contractors on site. Be able to commit to being on-site full time (5 days a week).
