Simulation Scientist (m/w/x)
Zeiss
Your role Working in the interface between algorithms, optical design, and system engineering, you will develop visions and prototypes for future products. Model, simulate, and evaluate sub-wavelength structures in photonic devices and optical systems that are crucial for the entire application spectrum of the ZEISS Group. Advance our simulation capabilities by interfacing to both proprietary and ZEISS-owned software and developing the latter further. Initiate and drive corresponding activities.Your profileA university degree in physics, computer science or mathematics and excellent programming skills - a PhD would be a plus. Proven and recognized expertise in simulation and modelling in both theory and implementation. State-of-the-art overview of latest research and industry trends in nano-structured surfaces, particularly in optical and acoustic effects. Knowledge and hands-on experience on how to develop simulations at scale and optimize regarding speed and efficiency. Expertise in mathematical modeling and numerical methods, including finite element analysis (FEA), finite difference time domain (FDTD), and other computational techniques. Proficiency in using rigorous electro-magnetic solvers, e.g. JCMwave, COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS Lumerical or respective open-source packages. A passion for programming with a solid background in Python. Strong communication and presentation skills - the vision and hands-on mindset to make your ideas come to life in ZEISS products.
