Appointment Type Full Time Regular Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt General Function The Simulation Operations Specialist plays a key role in supporting the technical and operational aspects of healthcare simulation at the McQueary College of Health and Human Services Simulation Center. This position is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the simulation center including the overall management and execution of simulation activities. Responsibilities include maintaining and preparing equipment and supplies, performing routine maintenance and reliability checks, managing service agreements, coordinating technical training, and ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality simulation experiences. Additionally, the role utilizes computers and audiovisual equipment to develop and facilitate equipment training for internal and external clients, both on-site and remotely.#LI-CP1 Description of Primary Duties
1. Serves as a team leader, providing guidance and support to other simulation technicians and assisting with the planning and execution of simulation activities.
2. Assists with the Simulation Center IT department needs through technical support, as necessary.
3. Collaborates with IT and vendor contacts to quickly resolve technical issues.
4. Works closely with IT departments to assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of simulation technology, including networked manikins, audiovisual systems, and simulation management software
5. Prepares, operates, maintains, and troubleshoots simulation equipment, including high and low fidelity manikins, task trainers, audiovisual systems, and simulation management software.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.
Experience: At least three years of experience in simulation operations, clinical environments, or a related technical or educational field, with additional consideration given to candidates with strong communication skills or demonstrated technical troubleshooting experience. Documented experience organizing and managing complex workflows. Demonstrated experience and understanding of proper lab procedures for the safety of self and of others is required.
Skills: The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information, provide written follow-up instructions, and support the achievement of desired outcomes. They must be capable of analyzing and evaluating the functionality and performance of technical equipment, using critical thinking to solve problems independently or as part of a team. The candidate should demonstrate strong teamwork. Proficiency in communicating technical needs, supporting system updates, maintaining data security, and aligning with institutional technology standards is expected. A strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and a customer-service-oriented mindset are required.
Effort: The work area involves moderate environmental discomfort such as continuous moderate noise from machines or equipment used in the lab. Work requires a regular setting up of equipment and simulators of over 50 pounds, including moving human patient simulators which weigh over 100 pounds as part of a two-person move.
Other: Occasionally requires working outside normal office hours.
