Description
The UCLA Simulation Center is a state-of-the-art,
interprofessional health professions training facility that applies active
learning and immersive educational techniques, tools, and technologies to
transform health education and patient safety. Under general guidance and
supervision from the Sim Center leadership team and senior staff, the
Simulation Operations Specialist (SOS) is responsible for supporting all
educational and research activities in the Center, including undergraduate and
graduate medical training, nursing education, and UCLA Health staff and patient
safety programs. The SOS will implement developed programs by providing support
for the daily operations, including assisting in planning and data tracking of
educational sessions, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and training
users on simulation equipment. Duties include but aren't limited to setting up
and operating simulation sessions using high-tech computers and clinical
equipment, coordinating educational activities, maintaining technology and
troubleshooting audio-visual and simulation equipment, developing low-cost
innovations for instructional purposes, and supporting quality and research
projects.
In this role, you will interact with faculty, staff,
students, and the public on a regular basis as a representative of the UCLA
Simulation Center and are expected to be available onsite to support Center
events. Salary offers are determined based on various factors including, but
not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity.
The full hourly salary range for this position is $33.81 - $51.24.
Qualifications
Required:
+ Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/training.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with other faculty, staff, students, and vendors in a positive, helpful and cooperative working relationship.
+ Skills in operating a PC and Mac with experience in MS Office and the ability to learn additional software programs, including audiovisual and computerized simulation equipment.
+ Physical ability to lift, move, maintain and set up computer, audio-visual and simulation lab equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
+ Knowledge of operation of standard audio-visual equipment: projectors, microphones, portable screens, media players, etc.
+ Mechanical skills to competently maintain and use equipment in the simulation center. Ability to perform basic wiring and cable installation.
+ Organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track various projects, maintain files, and follow through assignments to completion.
+ Ability to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical persons.
+ Able to work evening/weekends. Willingness to perform occasional overtime to meet the teaching schedule and essential duties.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
Preferred:
+ Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical training and/or experience in data management, statistics, virtual reality applications, and/or instructional design preferred.
