Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Simulation Engineer applies Manufacturing, Engineering and analytical principles to the development of global manufacturing processes. The Simulation Engineer, as a simulation subject matter expert, will be responsible for developing and refining simulation models to help our organization optimize complex systems and drive strategic decision-making along with responsibility for Engineering, Designing, Innovating, and implementing production processes for Magna Exteriors on a global scale.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify and lead new technology and manufacturing concepts simulations focusing on cost savings, global activities and obtaining new business.

Function as a manufacturing process simulation and simulation model development specialist with an expertise in related technologies, materials, design and tooling.

Analyze highly complex design and process problems and formulates engineering conclusions by the application of simulation models, engineering and/or mathematical principles.

Validate model accuracy and communicate insights to key stakeholders.

Create and validate digital twins of production systems for performance prediction, scenario planning, and real-time optimization.

Analyze system behavior for key metrics factory flow, logistics, (cycle time, throughput, ideal direct and indirect labor utilization, bottlenecks, line buffer and flow design, and recommend improvements

Troubleshooting complex situations involving multiple variables and conditions with minimum supervision

Developing modeling libraries

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, MP&L operations, IT/OT, and advanced robotics to align virtual models with real-world conditions.

Support virtual commissioning, cell validation, and early-phase process design through simulation.

Contribute to the standardization of simulation and digital engineering best practices across divisions.

Integrate Industry 4.0 principles, including IoT, machine learning, MES, and data analytics, into simulation strategies.

Provide technical documentation, present findings, and assist in the development of simulation training for internal teams.

Create & execute goals, timing and cost for project(s).

Track & evaluate emerging technologies.

Monitor and benchmark competitors.

Communicate/coordinate projects between divisions, cross-functional teams, sales, targeted programs, customer needs and corporate representative on behalf of the Operational Excellence department.

Support Exteriors and Sales group in pursuing new business including planning of Greenfields and Brownfields.

Participate as a lead member of the Global Expert Team to coordinate development activities across all of Exteriors and Magna worldwide.

Research, support, and implement new technologies for Magna Exteriors Manufacturing Processes.

Identify design improvements and create design specifications for a variety of complex product components to obtain operational, cost, quality, and/or manufacturing feasibility improvements.

Consult with cross functional groups in various engineering activities relative to the design, prototype, and experimental construction of product components.

Following operational procedures, work-standards, and divisional guidelines with minimum supervision

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s / master’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related field.

3+ years of experience in simulation modeling, manufacturing systems analysis, or digital manufacturing.

Proficiency with simulation software (e.g., Plant Simulation, Any Logic, Flex Sim, Simul8, Arena, Visual components).

Familiarity with digital twin technologies, automation, robotics, AGVs, and smart factory systems.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Programming/scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Java, SCL, or SQL) is a strong asset.

Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing preferred.

Ability to work in cross-functional, global teams and manage multiple priorities

Physical Demands/Work Environment - Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, will require travel (domestic and international) when needed. Travel may last weeks at a time.
